Penpals are friends you don't know in person, or do know, just can't stay in touch with, to chat via messages. [emails, messageboards, handwritten mail, and online videogames].
To get a pen pal, you can create a thread that says [LF(looking for) penpal!] you can ask them about their interests and if you believe that they will be uncomfortable saying that information on the forums, you can have them PM [private message] you.
Since kids obviously want a penpal, if you're being.. mature.. please tune it to PM if you respect your privacy, or you can just put [PG-13] in the title, that way anyone who is just bored and wants to read won't stumble upon that.
